MotorBike Track Development
The Wilford Young Peoples Club have applied for planning permission to build a GO-Kart and Motorbike track adjacent to the North entrance of Clifton Grove.
Generate Excessive Noise And Pollution
The location will open 9am to 9pm six days a week. The poposed site is presently a field which acts as a buffer between the Grove and the busy A453. The quiet riverbank retreat will be smothered by the roar of motorbike and GO-Kart engines if this project is approved.
Attract Motocyclists From All Over Nottingham
The facility is proposed to serve the entite city of Nottingham. The site will be busy around the clock attracting litter and traffic congestion.
Green Belt Land Lost
Yet more green belt land will be swallowed up. This land was not supposed to be used for such a development. If the development goes ahead it will show that the phrase 'Green Belt' is nothing more than a pretence designed to dupe the population into thinking at least some of our open spaces are protected.
Pollute The Trent
Oil and petrol spills will pollute the groundwater and the River Trent.
Damage A Wildlife Area
The site is adjacent to six sites of importance for nature. Protected species such as Kingfishers, Water Voles and the plant Star Sedge will not benefit from the changes.
Track Overflow
The track will operate six days a week and be limited to six vehicles at a time. It will become a natural meeting point for scrambling bike enthusiasts. A proportion of bike riders will use Clifton Grove as a substitute when the site is closed, the track becomes to busy to allow them on or they run out of funds to use the circuit.
What Can You Do?
If you care about this issue you must make your feelings heard by the people that matter. Merely grumbling about to friends will make no difference to the outcome. Please write to the Clifton and Wilford Member of Parliment and the local councillors outlining your point.

More than 1,100 people signed a petition and dozens wrote letters to Nottingham City Council against the proposal. They also claimed the motorbike track next to the River Trent - would effect wildlife....the item has now been withdrawn ... to give the applicants a chance to review the plans and address local peoples concerns....The news has been welcomed by campaigners, although they said the threat of development was still hanging over thier heads....Clifton west counciller Brent Charlesworth said ''It is sensible and reasonable to take on board the range of complaints and criticisms local people have made. I am still keen to see the development of some facilities for youngsters because there is still a genuine need in the Clifton and Wilford area''.
