I am 32 and have grown up with the sound of The Hollies & the 60's sound. I have seen The Hollies many times on tour, and have experienced a tour with Carl Wayne. His act was outstanding and very professional, and I am glad to have been able to see him in action in my life time. This is a very sad loss for British music and The Hollies. Thank you so much. My condolences to The Hollies and Carl's family.

Diane and I would like to express our deepest sympathy to all, especially Sue and Jack following the very sad loss of Carl. Although like many of the Carousel fans we grew up with his music during our teenage years in the 1960’s we only knew him for a few brief years since he joined The Hollies in 2000. And we were very privileged to have had the opportunity to talk to him at a few shows and conventions over that time and I must say it was an absolute pleasure to have known him. When Allan Clarke left the Hollies at the end of 1999, many ‘fans’ I’m sure (including us) thought the band had probably now reached a natural end. Many of us thought how difficult it would be to replace someone with such a unique voice and presence as Allan, but those reservations were soon dispelled for us before he even put a foot on the stage! We had not been able to see his first few gigs, but when Carl walked in the room at his first ‘fans’ convention, his warmth, friendship and pleasant manner towards everyone left us in no doubt as to what a great human being he was. Since that day I honestly believe he provided a new impetus to the band through his enthusiasm skill and professionalism and whenever you got a chance to have a chat with him, he always afforded you plenty of time and always showed an interest in whatever the subject happened to be. Carl was one of the nicest people you could ever wish to meet. It was a pleasure knowing him and I can’t even start to imagine how much everyone will miss him. We know we will.

I would like to say I saw the hollies at the regent theatre in Hanley last year they were fab. Carl was a person who when spoke you felt like you had known him for years, very friendly, very nice man. When The Hollies had finished singing I just wanted more all night, that's how good they were to me. May you rest in peace. My thoughts are with The Hollies and his family.

I had the pleasure of meeting Carl at the stage door in Derby where he promptly signed my programme. What a true star and perfect gentleman.

How saddened I was to hear of the passing of that great artist, vocalist, performer, recording star, actor, the great Carl Wayne. I had the great pleasure of seeing The Hollies on my birthday October 2002 at the Assembly Hall Tunbridge Wells and was amazed at the way the group sounded. Carl even wished me happy birthday. The next concert was re dated because Carl was recovering and sure enough the next concert was just as fantastic as the first. A truly great lead singer. My daughter was one of the nurses who attended Carl at his home during his illness, she told him I was a Hollies fan and he promptly gave her, to give to me, CD's of The Move, The Hollies, plus a signed photo. I will always treasure them, a memory of a true gentleman and a great musician who will be sadly missed. I was lucky enough to see The Hollies in concert at The Mayflower Theatre, Southampton in February, a fantastic show. Condolences to his wife Sue and son Jack.

I was so shock when Peej Harding e-mail me and told me the bad news that Carl Wayne died. I cried all night. Carl was a beautiful man and he will be missed. I never met him and the other Hollies band members. My condolences go to Carl's wife Susan and son Jack and my sympathy to The Hollies band. Hi Rob - I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Carl Wayne. Unfortunately I never had the privilege of seeing him perform with The Hollies but was promised by my husband that when they next visited Australia (supposed to be next year), he'd take me to see them - even if we had to travel to Melbourne! For the past few months I've been playing the cd copy of 'looking on' by the move that a friend of mine was kind enough to pick up for me on a recent trip to the UK. I had no idea that Carl was involved with The Hollies, a group I had the great fortune of supporting during the sixties here in Toronto, Canada. Our plane was just taking off on Sat 4 Sept for our return journey home when we saw the headline in the Express. We looked at each other stunned and shocked - it couldn't be true - we had to read the article several times to try and take it in. Like everyone else we cant believe we will never see Carl on stage again, where he was in his element, giving his all at every performance. We will miss his theatrical mannerisms, that lovely smile, and not forgetting of course his infectious laugh. Carl loved people. He always found "time" for us fans and we thank him for that as they are moments we will always hold dear. Our thoughts are with Sue, Jack and all of Carl's family and friends at this very sad time.

I had the pleasure to see The Hollies on the 10th. of July this year perform in Egersund Norway, and Carl Wayne was a fine replacement for Allan Clarke. Just another one of the good old singers left. I feel very sad about it but I had the luck to see him with the Hollies in Heppenheim, Germany in June. It was such an amazing performance from him. And for me, an old ELO-Fan such a great surprise to see him live on stage. Without the Move, there wouldn't be no ELO and he was one of them. He gave me many great moments in live with his music, it's so sad not see him singing again or to meet him. Without music there is no chance to survive and your music keeps me alive. Dear Rob, when I heard about Carl's passing, there was shock and numbness first. Then utter sadness with this flashback to the summer of 1967: Carl's Move-Hit "Flowers In The Rain" and The Hollies´ "Carrie Anne" happily sitting together on the charts. How fitting it was when both sides joined forces in 2000, and how tragic that "Flowers In The Rain" (which they did together) now accentuates the "Rain" part - the loss of a great frontman, big-hearted family man and ever so friendly backstage charmer. Heartfelt condolences to his wife and son, family and friends as well as the boys in The Hollies and The Move. Carl will live on in our memories and on record.

I've only been able to see my favorite band for forty years twice. Once with Clark/Nash in 83 and again two years ago on the 02 US tour. The concert with Carl at the helm was astonishing. I met both he and Tony after and was impressed by their humility. My prayers go to his family.

My husband and I would just like to say how sorry we are to hear of the death of Carl. ( I heard it on the radio whilst driving home from work, Johnnie Walker on Radio 2 was as shocked and saddened as I was) Would you please pass our condolences on to his wife Sue son Jack and all his family. We had seen Carl play with The Hollies for the first time in Tameside theatre I think it was in 2001 and was amazed how well he fitted in with the rest of the band as, when we arrived at the show we didn't know that Allan was no longer with them! I was so shocked when a friend told me today of Carl's sudden death. I am glad that his last illness was not a long one. I am thinking of his lovely Wife and Son, ex-group members, particularly Roy Wood, and of course The Hollies. I am so glad that I saw them performing in Worthing and I thought that the mix of The Hollies and Carl was dynamite. Each gave the other a new dimension. I do hope that The Hollies can continue, partly as a tribute to Carl. What a man, you will not be forgotten.

I was deeply shocked and saddened to learn yesterday (Thursday) of the passing of Carl Wayne, I know he had not been well in recent times, but believed that he had recovered and I was looking forward to The Hollies tour here next year, Carl was a superb replacement for Alan Clarke, I got met Carl in 2001 during their last tour, he was an easy going, down to earth person, he sat with us during a soundcheck, and we met him after the show, he was just a great talent and will be greatly missed, on behalf of my wife and myself we send our sincere condolences to his wife Susan and son Jack, he is in our prayers. Just as Mikael Rickfors did when he replaced Allan Clarke in 1972, Carl Wayne brought a new dimension to the band. I thought "How Do I Survive" was a terrific track as soon as I heard it. A Hollies classic, in my opinion. And Carl's work with The Move was superb as well. Imagine, he fronted two of the greatest UK bands of all time. Thank you, Carl Wayne. RIP.

I am deeply shocked to hear of the loss of Carl, a brave man who soldiered on in spite of the illness he was suffering from. I am only 30 but have been a fan of the Hollies for a long time. I was fortunate enough to see them in 2003 in Guildford and in 2004 in Aldershot. I also had tickets for the November Bournemouth concert. It was a tremendous shock when I heard Johnny Walker on Radio 2 mention Carl Wayne. It took a long time to sink in and I just could not believe what I was hearing! I remember Carl when he was in The Move, he was the handsome one, then in the early 70,s he married "Miss Diane" out of Crossroads, then when Alan Clarke decided to retire it was with great excitement that Carl joined where he re-launched the sound of the Hollies and brought some of his old songs from The Move. I took my daughter Gemma to see him in Blood Brothers where he played the narrator which he was brilliant at, he was a much underrated artist, god bless you Carl.

I did a considerable number of arrangements for him and worked with him, both live and on TV, on many occasions. I only met Sue once, while delivering some extremely last minute arrangements to him at Corley services on the M6! He was a great bloke and a very underrated session singer. PLEASE pass my condolences to Sue. I have been retired with cancer myself so it's quite some time since I saw him, but just as a friend I know I will miss the fact that he is no longer around.

Such a sad loss of Carl Wayne, especially after fulfilling Allans spot light. Like Allan, he will be sadly missed. I sincerely hope this is not the final end of such a tremendous era, fantastic band and the demise of a group of legends.

I just found out about Carl and like Martin, I can't believe it. Carl was a wonderful person who new how to entertain and he will be missed by many including myself. My Sincere Condolences go to Susan, Jack and the rest of his family. May you rest in peace Carl. Lots of love Susie.

I have just heard the news about Carl Wayne, I cant believe it. I met him some years ago when he was in Blood brothers and he was very kind. The hollies have lost a great singer who will be hard to replace. But I hope that Bobby and Tony will carry on.

Have been following the Hollies for a mere 22 years! When Allan Clarke, one of the best vocalists of his era left the band it was a great shame. Carl Wayne was a different voice and allowed the band to continue for another 5 years, singing in his own style. He contributed much to the band and I'm sure all followers of the Hollies will mourn his tragic loss. May he rest in peace.

Saw Carl and the boys at Swansea Grand Theatre on 4th March. Blinder of a show . First time I'd seen Carl with them. Gave the band a fresh injection of energy . Played 3 Move tracks . Fire Brigade/ Blackberry Way/ Flowers In The Rain. Stunning to hear Carl sing these live .Hairs stood up on the back of my neck. Carl looked and sounded great. Saw the band at the stage door and got their signatures on the prog. Great night. Wished I'd taken my own son(14)- also Carl. In the 70s Carl sang You're The Star. Carl - You Were The Star. I've just heard the tragic news of Carls passing away & would just like to say what a sad day it is for me & I know for many other Hollies & Move fans. I read on Ceefax the very sad news of the loss of Carl. My thoughts go out to Sue, his son and his family, and to Helen, I can only imagine how they must all be feeling. A lovely and more genuine man you couldn't ever hope to meet. Always happy and willing to meet fans, totally unselfish. A truly great performer, with a great personality. I shall miss him so very much. My condolences to the rest of The Hollies, they have lost a brilliant front man and ambassador for the group. This is so, so sad.
