Allan Clarke has decided to retire from The Hollies due to personal circumstances.

I think everyone knows what a traumatic year Allan had in 1999 and how he managed to cope admirably with the serious illness of his wife and yet still manage to complete two tours of the United Kingdom, only missing out on three shows early in the Spring Tour.

Allan's decision has to be respected after such a long, successful and distinguished career in a very intensive and often intrusive music industry.

I would like to send my very best wishes to Allan for a very long, healthy, happy and above all, deserved retirement.

He has given enormous pleasure and joy to so many countless people over the years and for me personally, I will cherish not only the sound of his distinctive voice as I continue to listen to his records, but also the wonderful memories I have of being in his company.

If you are on the internet and would like to put a dedication to Allan on my Guestbook page, I would be delighted.

You can find the page here Guestbook.     All messages left will also be recorded on the Allan Clarke message page.

To the future now and the positive decision by Bobby and Tony together with Alan, Ray and Ian to continue.

THE HOLLIES  have not retired and we can look forward to more years of  fabulous stage shows and perhaps even some new recordings.

The new front man has been announced as Carl Wayne who was the lead singer with  The Move   (Check out these links.)

I will post more information on Carl as soon as I can.

Looking forward to seeing lots of you on the next tour.

Rob.

Dear Members,

After all the speculation over the past few months, this morning the Hollies issued the following announcement.

After a long and successful career, Allan Clarke has announced that, due to personal reasons, he has decided to retire from the Hollies.

Tony Hicks, Bobby Elliott, Alan Coates, lan Parker and Ray Stiles are pleased to inform you that the Hollies will be joined by Carl Wayne who is the ex lead singer of The Move.

The Hollies will be undertaking a major U.K. Concert Tour during October/November 2000 and February/March 2001. Negotiations are taking place for additional dates for the summer of 2000 within the UK and

Finally, the Hollies would like to wish Allan a very healthy and happy retirement.

We would like to add our own good wishes to Allan, we will certainly miss him; but on a more positive note we are excited by the prospect of new recordings and hope you will all continue to give your support to the Hollies and welcome Carl into the group.
