Fans take raincheck on soaked park gig

THE torrential downpours on Saturday night were enough to keep the crowds away from the second of Ipswich's midsummer concerts in Christchurch Park.
On Friday night, a crowd of around 3,000 braved the rain to enjoy Bjorn Again, Boney M and Bucks Fizz, but on Saturday the rain got heavier and people stayed away.
But those who did turn out to see The Hollies, Lindisfarne and Westlive, were in for a real treat.
Westlive are the world's first Westlife tribute band and they delighted the crowd with an ensemble of the boy-band's greatest hits.
They were followed by folk legends Lindisfarne, whose hits included Fog On The Tyne.
But the real jewel in the crown was The Hollies, who were the only band to escape the downpour!
The crowd rocked to hits such as Carrie Anne, The Air That I Breathe and He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother.
Lead singer Carl Wayne apologised at the end for the weather but praised the beautiful outdoor venue of the park and said he hoped The Hollies would be back in town again before too long.
