Dear Mr. Davey,

I attach a copy of a letter we have sent to Radio Nottingham concerning their poor coverage of Notts away games. Notts fans are genuinely irate about this situation and the way they, and the club, are being snubbed by a radio station that is supposed to serve the local community.

Also enclosed is a copy letter from Martin Fisher in response to an earlier letter from Notts fan Darren Jones. In it Martin refers to your article in the programme and also gives details of the fees charged by clubs for commentaries on games. I am sure you will join me in disputing some of the points he makes.

You will note that the Pie is offering to pay the broadcast fees for a Notts away game, it will be interesting to see what response we get to this! Whatever happens we intend to seek the maximum publicity for the issue and to publish copies of all letters, including the one to Mr Jones in the next edition of the Pie, which hopefully will be out at the end of February.

As the bone of contention is regarding the failure to do commentaries on Notts away games, could the club not play a part in seeking a resolution to the situation? Surely it makes no difference to the attendance if there is commentary on an away match, yet such commentaries bring the club closer to the fans and make them more likely to attend the next home game? If this is the case, could Notts not waive their fee for such away matches, thereby encouraging Radio Nottingham to broadcast it - after all otherwise you would not have received a fee anyway?

I look forward to receiving your views on this issue, which is of great
importance to many Notts fans.

Yours sincerely
